Summary: Janet has a cold.

Sam threw back the comforter and crawled under the heavy blanket, finding the sweet spot on the mattress and sinking down into it. After all the nights spent in this bed, she'd finally acquired a divet that was just the right size. She sighed and let the blanket fall lightly onto her chest and laid her head back. Janet would be off in about twenty minutes. Between last minute emergencies and paperwork, she'd be home within the hour. Sam checked her watch. She could do an hour. Easily.

---

Janet kissed Sam's forehead, waking the blonde from a sound slumber. "Hum," Sam said, jerking slightly and putting a hand to her face. "What?"

"Easy, honey," Janet chuckled, patting Sam's shoulder. "You fell asleep."

"No, I din'," Sam argued.

Janet smoothed down her lover's short, matted hair and said, "Okay, you didn't. In which case... you drool when you're awake now?"

Sam blushed and looked down at the pillow, covering her face. "God. I'm sorry, Janet, I--"

"It's okay," Janet kissed her lover's cheek and said, "I'm going to sleep on the couch tonight." Sam's head snapped up. "I'm feeling a little under the weather." She picked up Sam's hand and flattened it on her cheek. It was warm to the touch. "I don't want to give you anything, so I'll sleep down there tonight."

"Why?" Sam asked, sounding like a little kid who'd just been told they couldn't go to the zoo.

"I don't want you to go through the Stargate and infect the locals with something. We've dealt with people getting sick because of us before, remember? I don't think we want a repeat of what happened to those little white guys. I'll see you in the morning, all right? I'll teach you how to make pancakes," she offered. She'd been trying to teach Sam the basics of cooking. So far, she'd managed to make a barely-edible batch of scrambled eggs. Everything else was more of a disaster...

"Okay," Sam reluctantly agreed, brushing her thumb over Janet's fingers. "Good night."

Janet kissed Sam softly on the corner of her lips and said, "Good night. I'm just gonna grab some jammies and my pillow. I'll leave Mr. Snuffleton," she said, picking up a quilted blue bear and laying it on her side of the bed, "so you can cuddle with him. He still has some of my perfume on him."

Sam picked up the bear and sniffed. It definitely wasn't the same. She held the toy to her chest as she watched Janet change into her pajamas. When she finished, tightening the string around her waist, she knelt next to the bed again and said, "See you tomorrow."

"Tomorrow," Sam said softly, kissing Janet. She let her fingers rest on the doctor's shoulder, feeling the other woman's heated body through the thin material of her sleepwear. She whimpered and said, "I wish you weren't sick."

"Me too. It might've been all that rain we were running around in at the Alpha Site." She pecked Sam on the nose and left the bedroom. "See you in the morning."

---

Around three am, Sam kicked the comforter down around her knees and sighed, rubbing her face. "Why couldn't *I* have been sick?" she whispered into her hands. "I was running around in the rain as much as she was." She looked over at Janet's empty side of the bed and hugged Mr. Snuffleton and rolled onto her side. It was ridiculous... letting a little thing like an illness come between them. Finally, she kicked the blankets away and stood, walking quietly down the hall and navigating the squeaky stairs as she headed for the living room.

Janet was sitting on the sofa, hugging her knees. Her head was lolled to the side, her mouth slightly open. Sam knelt next to the couch and touched her lover's forehead. "Janet? Sweetheart..."

The other woman slowly blinked her eyes opened and whimpered. "Sam?" she said. Her face was wet with sweat and tears. Sam felt her stomach curl. The brunette was in pain and alone. "Sam, you're going to catch it."

"I don't care," Sam said. "Come upstairs."

"The mission..."

"Screw it," Sam argued. "It's a diplomatic thing. I'll have Warner check me out and, if he finds anything at all, I'll stay behind. Or they can send SG-9 instead." She hooked one arm under Janet's legs, using the other to support her back. "Come on. Doctor Carter will take care of her baby." Janet let herself relax in her lover's arms as she carried her upstairs. Sam was so strong... she felt so safe in the blonde's arms. She linked her arms behind Sam's neck and let herself be carried to her bed.

Sam gently laid her lover on the mattress, using a thin sheet to cover her. She then disappeared into the bathroom, running some water in the sink. When she returned, she had some cold medicine and a wet washrag in her hand. Janet took the medicine, measuring herself a dose and downing it while Sam dabbed the sweat from the brunette's forehead. She also undid one of the buttons on Janet's top, wetting down her upper chest.

Janet laid back and let Sam take care of her. After rubbing some VapoRub on Janet's upper chest, she undid the bottom buttons of her lover's top and parted the halves, baring Janet's toned stomach. Sam fought the urge to admire the tan flesh and gently rubbed in slow circles around her belly button. Her hand slipped down to the waistband of Janet's pants and said, "Hon? You know what some people will cure any ailment?"

"What's that?" Janet asked.

Sam slipped her hand into Janet's pajama pants, making the brunette raise an eyebrow. Sam arched her own eyebrow. "You haven't heard of this? You see... you simply take the person's mind off of their discomfort." Using her free hand, she massaged Janet's upper thigh through the thin material of her pajamas. "An added benefit is that all those tight muscles tend to relax. You get relief and your caregiver gets... to have a little fun." She tapped Janet's moist lips through her panties and the brunette gasped.

"Y-you'll have to get me that medical text," Janet said, laying her head back on the pillows.

"Are you feeling better?"

"Like a new woman," Janet assured her.

Sam grinned. "Well, I wouldn't want that... I'm not done with you yet." She stretched herself over Janet's body and kissed the doctor's lips gently as she pushed aside the doctor's underwear with her fingertips.

---

Janet sat up and rubbed her eyes, staring at the clock until her vision cleared and she could see that it said 6:43. She reached over, lightly nudging her lover's shoulder. Sam hadn't bothered to get dressed after their little rendezvous, and her bare shoulder was still a little sweaty. Janet kissed the wet flesh and said, "He-ey. You gotta get up, beautiful. C'mon. Rise and shine." She trailed her fingers up and down Sam's spine, feeling the muscles twitch underneath her path. She loved teasing Sam like this... made her feel like the blonde was a musical instrument.

She kissed Sam's neck again and said, "Sammy, sweety, honey. Wake up."

The exhausted Major murmured, stirred a little, but didn't wake.

Janet pushed the blankets down, brought her hand up, and swatted Sam's bare ass. "UP!" she snapped.

Sam jumped out of her skin, rising off the mattress a good few inches before she came crashing back down. She spun, blue eyes wide with confusion and fury. "You... You bitch!" Sam said, attacking Janet. She fought the brunette into giggling submission and kissed her eyelids. "What a wake up call..."

Janet giggled and fought, trying to escape. Her attempts caused her bare breasts to tremble, distracting her attacker. The smaller woman rolled, pinning Sam down and rising over her. "You give in?"

Sam threw her head to the side in defeat. "You have bested me. Do what you will..."

"Ooh, an open invitation!" She was about to attack when she turned her head and sneezed violently, her body trembling. Sam propped herself up on her elbows.

"You're still sick?"

"It would appear so. You sick?"

Sam took a moment, then shrugged. "I don't feel sick."

Janet tested Sam's forehead, then said, "I guess you'll be okay. Be sure Warner checks you out extremely well. Let him know you were exposed to the cold virus."

Sam nodded and worked her way out from under Janet, finding her panties and pulling them on. "You coming in at all today? I know how you like to be there when I'm off-world."

"Yeah," Janet nodded. "I'll probably just crash on the couch in my office, but I'll be there if you need me."

Sam took Janet's hands and said, "I love you."

Janet raised her eyebrows. "What brought that on?"

Sam shrugged. "Last night. Everything you've done for me. I just... wanted to let you know. We don't say it enough." She tucked a stray hair behind Janet's ear. "I love you," she repeated.

"I love you, too," Janet said. She kissed Sam, no longer worried about spreading the bug between them.
